Dog Parks:
  • Balboa Park, 24 hours a day at: 
    • Nate's Point - Located at Balboa Dr. at El Prado, South side of Cabrillo Bridge. 
    • Morley Field - Located at Morley Field Drive northwest of tennis courts.  
    • Grape Street Park - Located at Grape Street and Granada Ave this five acre site is unfenced and is available for off leash use during the following designated days and times: 
       
      • Posted Leash Free Hours: Monday thru Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. 
        Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. 
         
  • Cadman Park in Clairemont 

    Located at 4280 Avati Drive. This park is unfenced and its off leash use is continuing. Signs in the park will be updated to reflect the current rules/regulations.

    Leash Free Hours

    • During the school year: Daily from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.
    • Summer vacation: Daily 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    • There are no leash free hours on July 4th and every Saturdays from March 1 to June 15. 

  • Wells Park in El Cajon -

Located at 1153 E Madison Ave. in El Cajon. Seperate fenced-in large and small dog run areas, shade structures, picnic tables, grass and gravel areas, trees, drinking fountains. The park is open until 9:00pm and has lights at night.

  • Capehart Park - 

Located at the corner of Felspar and Soledad Mountain Road, this one acre park offers the following amenities: two fenced pens, on turfed areas: one for small dogs and one for large or all dogs, areas to provide water for dogs, a drinking fountain, picnic tables and benches, and a parking area. It is open 24 hours.

  • Doyle Community Park

Located at 8175 Regents Road, this park is situated behind Doyle Recreation Center and offers two fenced turfed areas, one for small dogs and one for large or all dogs. It is open 24 hours however it is not lighted.

  • Dusty Rhodes Neighborhood Park

Located on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard between Nimitz and West Point Loma, this one acre park offers one area for all dogs. There is discussion about adding water stations for dogs and fountains for people, and expanding this site to five acres. 

  • Kearny Mesa Community Park

Located at 3170 Armstrong Street, this one acre park near the Kearny Mesa Recreation Center offers one area for all dogs. The site is near lit ball fields which "spill" on to the leash free site which allows for evening use. There is discussion about adding water stations for dogs and fountains for people. Parking can be a challenge during the day as the closest parking lot is used by students attending Mesa College.

  • Harry Griffin Park

Located at 9550 Milden Street, La Mesa, this fenced dog park has two separate areas, one for all dogs, and one for small dogs only. Some shade provided. Can be very dusty at times.

Dog Beaches:

  • Dog Beach

Located in Ocean Beach at the foot of Voltaire Street, this site offers 24 hour access to the beach and ocean.

  • Fiesta Island

Located in Mission Bay Park, Fiesta Island offers a 5.2 mile asphalt path around the island for dogs walkers. Hours are from 6:00 a.m. - 10 p.m. everyday. No shade or fresh water available.

  • Dog Beach Coronado  

Located at the northern end of the beach by the Naval Air Station of Ocean Blvd Sunset Park NO SHADE NO FRESH WATER AVAILABLE

  • Dog Beach Del Mar

    Located at Camino Del Mar. Open September – June. NO SHADE NO FRESH WATER AVAILABLE
